I purchased the Vecocé shoulder bag from the Rick Steves store for my first RS Tour in 2009. It has been my go to bag for dozens of business trips and vacations and washings (no dryer) ever since. After so many years I am going to replace it with the same bag as it is fraying a bit in spots. It fits comfortably under an airplane seat, whereas my other favorite Dakine backpack is a tight fit (although a little roomier than the Velocé bag).
Replacement for a bag I used for 7 years! Excellent all over European museums where backpacks had to be checked.
We bought these bags to use as personal item bags for air travel. Only used a handful of times for the flights to and from our location and then of course to the hotels etc. One shoulder strap is already ripping and on the other bag, the back panel liner is torn. I have written to Rick Steves with the hopes of getting a full refund or two new bags. I expected more from a product associated with Rick Steves.
Thanks for letting us know — this isn't the experience we want for our travelers. We stand behind everything we sell, and someone from our team has reached out to you to sort this out.
The zipper for the L-shaped inside pocket (under the flap) jams most of the time. It gets caught in the material on both sides of the zipper. It creates a truly maddening experience. I am going to try to cut the fabric away from the zipper to allow the zipper to travel freely. If I can't make that work, I will probably just donate the bag to charity.
Thank you so much for sharing this feedback — we're really sorry to hear about the zipper issue on your bag. This is not the experience we want for our customers, and we'd love to make it right before you resort to any modifications or donating the bag. Great bag. Nice size and well constructed.
