Nope! The Athens chapters of the full-size Greece guidebook already include all the information that's in Rick Steves Pocket Athens — and then some.

Pocket Athens works best for people taking a short trip, or perhaps a return trip, to Athens — and not venturing beyond it. Like our other Pocket guides, it's smaller than the complete guidebook (and in full color), but still offers our best sightseeing advice, self-guided city walks and museum tours, and a foldout map.

For travelers who want to delve deep into Athens — even if they're not traveling elsewhere in Greece — the full-size guidebook can be a better option. It offers more substantial (and more frequently updated) advice on Athens itself: practicalities, sightseeing, hotels, restaurants, nightlife, shopping, and the city's history and culture.

Great reading for upcoming Athens tour

I have always enjoyed these tour books and have quite a collection! I was particularly happy to have this (much!) newer book to replace the one we used for the RS Greece tour in Oct., 2010! They are always a fun and well written read while being packed full of pertinent, useful and important information.

Excellent guide book.

Love the guidebook for our September Tour (which is why we have been reading the RS guidebooks since 1986

All RS travel books are packed with great information from site history and hotels to restaurants and phrases to learn.

Excellent resource

I've been mentally planning a trip to Greece for a long time. I am finally going, so I had to get serious about the plan. Rick's book is the answer to my prayers. Everything I needed was there! All the details about the places I'm interested in visiting, the attractions, transportation, tickets, schedules, everything! So planning became very easy and enjoyable. I don't go anywhere without his guide books.

I enjoyed the recommendations and suggestions but was disappointed that the Greek islands we are visiting on the Star Clipper cruise were not included.

I would like to see all of Ricks books to have easy year out pages - maybe perforated so I can take the sections out easier for the day. Pages do not tear out cleanly.
