Great because it shows locations of desirable tourist destinations without extraneous details of places that are "uninteresting" from a tourist's point of view. Very useful.

I purchased Rick Steves' planning maps for Italy, France, and Spain to prepare for my first European trip in over 40 years. They have been invaluable! I use them each evening to help orient myself to my surroundings in each city and get to know the area better. I love the way the maps use colors to highlight different things (public transportation stations, monuments, gardens, churches) and the convenient number system to help identify each place. I ordered the maps last minute on a whim and am so glad I did!! Google maps is handy while walking about during the day, but nothing like a good old paper map to help orient yourself to your surroundings!! Excellent! Thanks Rick!
