Good quality, lightweight, carry-on size, and plenty of compartments. This bag fit everything that I needed for a 10 day trip to Scandinavia with room to spare.
Rick Steves has done it again. The bag looks as good as it feels on my body. Features and no fuss and simple, so I can focus on enjoying my honeymoon with my beautiful bride.
It seems great. Inaugual trip using it is tomorrow, actually. Everything balances perfectly, inside straps very helpful, looking forward to traveling with it.
Definitely well built and ideal for backpacking/luggage in Europe.

Great quality fabric and zippers. Lightweight. Thoughtfully designed pockets, handles, and useful compression straps. Fantastic price for a really nice bag that is both functional and attractive.
My new Back Door Bag proved its worth within about eight minutes of its first trip (Denver-Laurentians-Plattsburgh-Denver, maximally multimodally). The 73 bus, which serves Denver’s notoriously narrow Quebec Street, got stuck behind a fire truck, and the driver said dispatch didn’t have another route for her so she just had to sit and wait for the DFD to finish what it was doing.
I hopped off and walked about half a mile to get the 65 on Monaco Street, which would have been nearly impossible with the spinner I’ve mostly been using in recent years. I now see Rick’s point that one ought to be able to manage a suitcase, a sandwich, and a bus ticket simultaneously, and intend to replicate this exact scenario on all my trips from now on.

It looks great, it is light weight and it packed well. We are not traveling unil the end of September so we will see.
I ordered this almost as an afterthought along with two other more expensive, similarly sized bags. Upon receiving them, it occurred to me that the more expensive bags were kinda over-engineered and heavier. The Steves bag also reminded me of my old backpack which I took abroad many times but has retired. For practicality and value I give the Classic Back Door Bag 5 stars.
The back door bag is a very practical travel bag! My wife and I got ours in 1991 and are still using it! This new bag has some features that make it even more convenient to use.

I bought this for myself in order to “backpack” instead of carrying or pulling thru airports. Paired with the packing cubes it’s incredible how much you can pack!!
My son has borrowed it several times and I’m always worried I won’t get it back. He’s going to Spain in August so I’m getting him an early birthday present.
Very helpful with shipping and delivering it on time.
Too soon to tell. I won’t be using it until August. I was told it would be comfortable for my height (6’8”). It seems a little snug but time will tell
